A Ballyneety, nella contea di Limerick, il paesaggio ondulato e verdeggiante della splendida campagna irlandese fa da sfondo alla presenza di uno tra i più moderni impianti di imbottigliamento d’acqua di sorgente in Europa: ISHKA Irish Spring Water.
Fondata nel 1978 da Michael Sutton, l’azienda è oggi gestita dai figli Mike e Denis. Ogniora l’impianto, composto da tre linee completamente automatizzate realizzate con la partnership di SMI, produce oltre 40.000 bottiglie di acqua di sorgente con la massima attenzione per la cura e la preservazione dell’ambiente circostante.
La collaborazione tra ISHKA e SMI è iniziata 15 anni fa con l’acquisto di una fardellatrice in film termoretraibile SK300 F, attualmente installata all’interno della linea di produzione n° 1 dedicata all’imballaggio di bottiglie da 250 ml, 500 ml, 750 ml, 1,5 L e 2 L. Nel 2017, in occasione dell’apertura della filiale SMI UK & Ireland con sede a Manchester (Regno Unito), i fratelli Sutton si sono rivolti a SMI per l’espansione degli impianti con l’installazione di una nuova linea di imbottigliamento per incrementare la produzione del formato da 5 L, molto richiesto dal mercato.
La soluzione “chiavi in mano” fornita da SMI ha riguardato anche un nuovo design del contenitore con l’abbandono della tradizionale forma quadrata e il lancio di una nuova bottiglia dalla forma cilindrica. Una scelta innovativa che ha permesso all’azienda irlandese di ridurre la quantità di PET in ogni bottiglia e di allineare l’aspetto del contenitore da 5 litri a quello delle altre eleganti bottiglie d’acqua ISHKA di capacità inferiore.
Il progetto di espansione dell’azienda irlandese ha reso necessario un “upgrade” della linea preesistente, che ha comportato la sostituzione della vecchia soffiatrice lineare con un moderno sistema integrato ECOBLOC® fornito da SMI, composto da una soffiatrice rotativa a 3 cavità, una riempitrice elettronica e un tappatore.
La progettazione di una questa nuova linea di produzione efficiente ha consentito ad ISHKA di aumentare la capacità dell’impianto di oltre il 50%.

In Ballyneety, county Limerick, the rolling and luscious green landscape of the wonderful Irish countryside is the backdrop to one of the most modern bottling plants of spring water in Europe: ISHKA Irish Spring Water.
Founded in 1978 by Michael Sutton, the company is today managed by the sons Mike and Denis. Every hour the plant, composed of three fully automated lines realized in partnership with SMI, produces over 40,000 bottles of spring water, with the utmost attention paid to the care and the preservation of the surrounding environment.
The collaboration between ISHKA and SMI began 15 years ago with the purchase of an SK 300 F shrink wrapper, that is currently installed within the production line 1, dedicated to the packaging of 250 ml, 500 ml, 750 ml, 1.5 L and 2 L bottles. In 2017, on the occasion of the opening of the SMI UK & Ireland branch based in Manchester (United Kingdom), the Sutton brothers turned to SMI for the expansion of the plants with the installation of a new bottling line to increase the production of the 5 L format, which is in great market demand.
The turn-key solution supplied by SMI also involved a new design of the container, discarding the traditional square shape and launching a new cylindrical bottle. An innovative choice that allowed the Irish company to reduce the amount of PET in each bottle and to align the look of the 5 L container with that of the other elegant ISHKA water bottles with a smaller capacity.
The expansion project of the Irish company made it necessary to upgrade the existing line, which involved the replacement of the old linear blow moulder with a modern integrated SMI ECOBLOC® system, consisting of a 3-cavity rotary blow moulder, an electronic filler and a capper. The design of this new efficient production line allowed ISHKA to increase the plant capacity by over 50%.
